A three pipe chilled water system serves the underground’s cooling requirements via redundant Liebert units to precisely control the environment within each building. All system chillers and ancillary equipment are located underground to ensure continuous operations during a natural/unnatural event. One of the many benefits of being underground is that the natural air temperature is 60° - 64°F year-round, which serves to naturally provide the ideal computing atmosphere. Additionally, two dehumidification units maintain 50% humidity within the common area to enhance the mine’s natural environment. Fire suppression within each building is provided by FM-200 fire protection systems. The common area is protected by a double interlock zoned sprinkler system to ensure loss prevention. Fire detection is not only provided by standard smoke and ionization detection systems, but also VESDA is utilized within areas of the facility.
